A prestigious college preparatory co-educational day school, Reid Temple Christian Academy (RTCA) offers a Christ-centered education with emphasis in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The school serves approximately 300 students in Pre K (age two) through grade eight at their one campus located in Glenn Dale, Maryland. RTCA is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization sponsored and supported in part by the Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church located on the same campus. RTCA is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

At the Academy, we understand how students learn and more importantly what motivates them. To that end we have removed politics from the classroom and introduced a more structured concept approach to learning. Administrators, teachers, students and parents work closely together to build a unified and cohesive team. A true partnership is now fashioned into what we call our “Community of Learners”.

Since 2005, The Academy has been preparing young men and women to succeed in higher education and to make their place in society. Located on the campus of Reid Temple AME Church (32 acres) we are housed in a newly built, technology rich educational wing in Glenn Dale, Maryland. We are committed to providing a holistic Christian education which ministers to the whole child, mind, body and spirit.

Our 16:1 teacher to student ratio allows our teachers and students to focus on very specific educational paths that move from basic skill teaching into our more advanced conceptual learning. It’s our belief that we must teach for understanding of each concepts and skills and not simply memorization in an effort to “Teach to the Test”.

Our students are immediately prepared to embrace the full aspect of knowing which is hard to accomplish in the traditional bureaucracy of public school systems. Our teachers have created a “Community of Learners” where everyone participates in the answering process and analysis, which creates effective group learning dynamics.
