School Counseling

Greetings from the RTCA School Counseling Team!

It is our goal each academic year to help our students with concerns that prevent optimum school performance. The Counseling Office is committed to the purpose of helping all our students recognize their God-given strengths and potentials to achieve greatness. Periodic newsletters are issued that provide wonderful information for parents, families, students and other educators.

For questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Tracie Sharpe via Email or Call at 301-860-6570 ext. 109.

Forms of Counseling Support

Individual Counseling

One-on-one counseling support is available to all students. This support is intended to address specific emotional, behavioral or social concerns that a particular child may have. It is not intended to replace current therapy interventions or serve as therapy. It is short term solution focus counseling to help students become available for learning.

Group Counseling

Small group counseling provides support for K to 8 students with similar academic, social or personal concerns.

Classroom Guidance

Classroom guidance lessons for kindergarten through fifth grade focus on a variety of issues commonly faced by elementary school-aged children, such as sharing, tattling and teasing.

School-wide Counseling

This program focuses on positive behavior intervention systems and peer mediation.
