Language learning has many values beyond the ability to communicate. Studies show that language learning correlates with higher academic achievement on standardized tests, benefits the development of student's reading abilities and even helps students hypothesize in science!
We believe language learning is crucial to the development of global citizens in that it affects attitudes and beliefs about other cultures.
Our world language program is designed to meet the expectations of the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages as designated by the National Standards Collaborative Board including the national foreign language organization, American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
RTCA offers two languages and models of developing those skills. Spanish, offered multiple times per week for lower grades and daily in the upper school, and Mandarin immersion, wherein students spend a half day immersed in the language each day.
